Discipleship Plan 2025

Evergreen First has been a church making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world since it’s humble beginnings in 1872. Evergreen First remains a faithful community serving God and loving neighbors. Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit, we will continue to seek to provide for, “the maintenance of worship, the edification of believers, and the redemption of the world,” (BOD Constitution Preamble).

In 2025, we will build upon the work that began in 2024 by the leadership team. Our focus will be on three core areas: Worship, Nurture and Outreach.

WORSHIP - with God through our worship and meeting together. We will connect with God through our weekly in-person and on-line worship experiences. We will not neglect the need for corporate prayer. (And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25 NLT.

NURTURE - We will seek new opportunities to nurture our own church family. We will dig deeper into God’s Word by meeting the unique needs of our intergenerational body of believers living in a broken world. (Every day they continued to teach and proclaim the good news that Jesus is the Christ, both in the temple and in houses. Acts 5:42 CEB.

OUTREACH - Aware of the ongoing and challenging needs of the community, Evergreen First will continue to reach out by serving others following the teachings of Christ: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, caring for the sick and visiting those in prison. We support this work alongside the Community of Transformation outreach ministries. (If I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you too must wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example: Just as I have done, you also must do. John 13:14-15 CEB.

We fully understand the urgency of sharing God’s story with others. There’s a place for each one of us in God’s redemptive plan. As we grow in our own understanding of who we are and how our work fits into His grand story we will share our stories with others. (Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 CEB.
